“In Your Face Marketing”

I don’t know what the correct terminology is but I can’t understand how “In Your Face Marketing” can really be working.

I just went to CNBC.com and was reading an article and there was so many things trying to prevent me from reading the article.  How can this be beneficial?

I didn’t get to finish reading the article and I clicked away frustrated.  I can understand a small pop up at the bottom of the page but lately so many ads block you from reading what you came there to read.
